Privacy Policy

Overview

ScaleTap ("the App") is a PDF measurement and markup tool for iPad, published by Godoroja ("we", "us"). We designed ScaleTap to be offline-first and privacy-respecting. This policy explains what data the App and this website handle.

1. Data that stays on your device

ScaleTap does not require an account. The following data is created and stored entirely on your iPad in the app sandbox:

  • PDF documents you import into ScaleTap.
  • Measurements, markups, scale calibrations, and tool presets you create.
  • App preferences (unit system, tool settings) stored in local preferences.

This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly export or share it using the iOS share sheet.

2. Data we do not collect

  • We do not collect personal information (name, email, phone number, location).
  • We do not access your camera, microphone, contacts, or photo library.
  • We do not upload your PDFs or measurement data to any server.
  • We do not sell personal data or use cross-app tracking.
  • We do not use iCloud sync or any cloud storage.

3. Purchases and subscriptions

ScaleTap offers optional Pro subscriptions (monthly and yearly) managed entirely by Apple through StoreKit. We do not process payments directly and do not have access to your payment details (credit card, Apple ID, etc.). Subscription management, billing, and refunds are handled by Apple per their privacy policy.

4. Analytics and diagnostics

When usage analytics is enabled, the App sends product-interaction events to Google Firebase Analytics. These events may include screens and features used, onboarding progress, purchase or subscription outcomes (never payment-card details), Apple Ads campaign identifiers, app and system versions, and a random identifier created for this app installation.

  • They do not include your PDFs, document names, measurement values, annotations, account name, email address, or payment details.
  • They can be associated with one app installation so we can understand a workflow across sessions, but are not used to identify you in the real world.
  • You can stop future usage analytics in ScaleTap under Settings > Privacy > Share Usage Analytics.

The App also sends crash and diagnostic reports to Google Firebase Crashlytics. These reports can include stack traces, app and system versions, device model, and bounded error categories. They do not include document content, document names, measurements, notes, or external file paths.

5. Website analytics

This website (scaletap.app) uses:

  • Vercel Web Analytics — anonymous page-view metrics with no cookies, provided by Vercel Inc.
  • Google Analytics — aggregated traffic analytics, provided by Google LLC. Google may set cookies per their privacy policy.

These services collect standard web analytics data (pages visited, referrer, browser type, country). No personal information is collected through this website.

6. Third-party services

ScaleTap uses the following external services:

  • Apple StoreKit 2 — subscription verification and purchase management.
  • Apple AdServices — campaign-side Apple Ads attribution, without IDFA or cross-app tracking.
  • Google Firebase Analytics — product usage and purchase-funnel analytics when enabled.
  • Google Firebase Crashlytics — crash and bounded diagnostic reporting.

Google describes Firebase data processing and safeguards in its Firebase privacy information.

7. Data export and sharing

When you use ScaleTap's export features (flattened PDF, CSV), the exported files are generated locally and shared through the standard iOS share sheet. We have no access to these exported files or knowledge of where you send them.

8. Children's privacy

ScaleTap is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in the App or legal requirements. Material changes will be noted by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of ScaleTap after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
